NATIONAL SPORTS AWARD


NATIONAL SPORTS AWARD 2012

The Hon’ble President, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee presented the National Sports Awards 2012 at a glittering function at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on August 29, 2012. The awards recognise and reward excellence in sports. London Olympics 2012 Silver medallist Vijay Kumar and Bronze medallist Yogeshwar Dutt were conferred the country’s highest sporting honour, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award for the year 2012. Besides, 25 sportspersons were presented with the Arjuna Award, the second highest sports award in the country. In addition, a host of other sporting honours were also conferred.



NATIONAL SPORTS AWARD 2013

National Sports Awards are given every year to recognize and reward excellence in sports. The Hon’ble President, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee presented the National Sports Awards 2013 at a glittering function at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on 31st August, 2013.
President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee conferred the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, Arjuna Awards, Dronacharya Awards, Dhyan Chand Awards, Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy and Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar at a specially organised function at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi.
Apart from a medal and a citation, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awardee received a cash prize of Rs.7.5 lakh.  Arjuna, Dronacharya and Dhyan Chand Awardees received statuettes, citations and cash prize of Rs.5 lakh each.  Recipients of Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar were given Trophies.
