G D Birla Award (1991-2014)

G D Birla Award for Scientific Research (1991-2014)

It was established in 1991 by the K K Birla Foundation in honour of the Indian philanthropist Ghanshyam Das Birla to recognise significant scientific research undertaken by Indian scientists below the age of 50, working in India.

It carries Cash Prize of Rs. 1.5 lakh and a citation.

First recipient of G D Birla Award was Asis Datta for Molecular Biology, National Centre for Plant Genome Research, JNU in 1991.
