DANCE STYLE OF INDIA

There are various Dance forms in world like Classical Dance, Modern dance, Group Dance, Partner Dance and Western Dance.

Classical Dance: 
It is relatively new umbrella form for various codified art forms rooted in Natya Shastra. Recently Sangeet Natak Akademi confers mainly 8 styles of Indian Classical Dance i.e. Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kathakali, Kuchipudi, Manipuri, Mohiniyattam, Odissi and Sattriya.
8 Classical Dance Forms of India:
1.      Bharatnatayam                –      Tamil Nadu
2.      Kathak                             –      North India
3.      Kathakali                         –      Kerala
4.      Kuchipudi                       –      Andra Pradesh
5.      Manipuri                          –      Manipal
6.      Mohiniyattam                  –      Kerala
7.      Odissi                              –     Odisha
8.      Sattriya                            –      Assam

Instead of Classical dance forms, some other forms of Dances are as Folk (Bhangra/Giddha, Chhau, Chiraw, Dollu Kunitha/Yakshagan, Garba/Dandiya Raas, Ghoomar, Ghumura, Jatajatin/Lagui, Karma, Pandavani/Lota, Parhaun, Wangula Laho) and Divine Forms (Nataraja, Tandava, Rasa Lila, Lasya). Some more South Indian Folk dances are Padayani, Kummi, Kolattarm, Perini, Thapetta etc.

Western Dance: 
It encompasses many dance forms or styles, which are typically danced to country western music, and which are stylistically associated with American country and / or western traditions.

Modern dance: 
It is a dance form developed in the early 20th century. Although the term Modern dance has also been applied to a category of 20th Century ballroom dances, Modern dance as a term usually refers to 20th century concert dance.

Group Dances: 
Western couple dancing is a form of social dance. Many different dances are done to country western music. The two step and various western promenade or pattern couples dances are unique to country western dancing.

Partner Dance:
It includes those who are mostly lead and follow, and pattern partner dances include shuffle, traveling Cha Cha.

(a)        Rig Veda         : The oldest and it contained prayers of God, Vayu, Varun, Indra & Agni.

(b)        Sam Veda       : It dealt  with theory of music.

(c)        Yajur Veda     : It describes formulae, sacrifices and rituals.

(d)       Atharva Veda  : It dealt with medicines.

2. Upanishads are the foundation stones of Indian Philosophy and are 108 in number
